At 61 years old, Dr. Alexandre Casciano is living proof that it’s never too late to change the course of one’s own life—and that of many others. A civil engineer by training, he found in Law a new vocation, driven by a genuine desire to help others. “As a civil engineer, mainly working in the construction field, I realized I could help many people if I became a lawyer. So, at the age of 34, I enrolled in law school in pursuit of an ideal that I now practice daily in my firm,” he recalls.
Today, 21 years after founding his own law firm, Casciano celebrates a career built on solid values such as ethics, loyalty, and respect. “We work today in several areas, and I strive for human development, including within my own team, by giving opportunities to others who, like me, had the courage to change the course of their lives in pursuit of something better,” he emphasizes.
Returning to School and a Career Turnaround
Even with an established career as a civil engineer—having graduated from FAAP’s School of Engineering—Alexandre felt he could go further. “I thought about studying law out of curiosity and to gain knowledge of legal matters that would improve my performance as an entrepreneur, co-founder, and owner of a small construction company founded in 1989, Vercal. But that curiosity turned into passion throughout the course, and it brought a great transformation to my life,” he shares.
This new education not only changed Casciano’s professional path but also reshaped the way he views work itself. He recalls his first, unexpected encounter with the legal world: “I joke that my first contact with my current profession happened in 1992, when I got into a mess trying to help a friend and ended up facing a criminal case myself.”
From that moment, what began as curiosity became a calling. “Purpose-driven law practice across various areas is, for me, a reality,” says the lawyer, who has been dedicated to his clients’ causes with commitment and sensitivity for over two decades.
Law with Purpose
Alexandre Casciano Sociedade de Advogados currently handles cases in Labor Law, Family and Succession Law, Business Law, Social Security Law, Real Estate Law, and Consumer Law. The firm was born from Casciano’s desire to practice law with purpose—guided by respect, social responsibility, and the creation of opportunities.
“I value respect and the creation of opportunities both when I’m standing before a jury defending a client and when I’m behind my desk discussing a case with a fellow lawyer or colleague,” he emphasizes.
For him, giving opportunities to those who deserve them and striving for balance in various aspects of life is both a personal and professional mission. “My goal is to further strengthen my law firm with a solid, consistent, and dedicated team so that we can defend our clients’ interests with ethics, loyalty, and respect—the pillars of my business. In addition, I aim to assist underprivileged people through free or subsidized legal aid, in accordance with my commitment to Him,” he states.
A Legacy Guided by the Courage to Start Over
The decision to switch from engineering to law transformed Alexandre Casciano’s life and inspired everyone around him. The lawyer carries with him the same enthusiasm he had at the beginning—and the certainty that he made the right choice.
“Everything has always been intense—from the love for this newfound profession to the relentless pursuit of justice on many levels,” he reflects. More than just a career change, his story is an example of courage and purpose. From civil engineer to lawyer, Dr. Alexandre Casciano found in law not just a new profession, but a way to continue building—not buildings, but bridges of opportunity and justice.
