The cheapest ticket for Inter Miami’s League Cup game against Mexico City’s Cruz Azul on July 21 – reportedly Messi’s first game for the club – jumped from $29 to 459 following reports Wednesday morning that the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner will join David Beckham’s Inter Miami, according to TickPick.
The ticket price for Miami’s home game against the New York Red Bulls on August 26 – said to be Messi’s first game in MLS – has risen from $30 to $512, according to TickPick.
Miami’s match against reigning MLS champion Los Angeles FC on September 3 also skyrocketed from $81 for the cheapest ticket to $599 in the immediate hours after multiple outlets reported that the second-biggest player world’s highest-paid headed to Miami; following speculation that he may rejoin his former club Barcelona or accept a box office deal to join Saudi club Al-Hilal.
The cheapest ticket for that match listed on TicketiQ is even higher at $684, 686% more than the ticket price at the start of the season ($87), while the ticket price for the away game Miami’s home game against Charlotte FC rose 748% in the same period (from $42 to $356).
The median ticket price for Miami’s home games also rose from $152 at the start of the season to $935, an increase of 515%, according to TicketiQ.
