Golden Messi offers teammates 24-carat gold-plated iPhones

Argentine star Lionel Messi offered his teammates and coaching staff 35 iPhones 14, plated in 24-carat gold, to celebrate the world title he won in December

The Argentine star Lionel Messi spent £175,000 (close to 218.920 dolars) on gold-plated iPhone 14s to offer to all the teammates and staff of the Argentine national team that in the last World Cup, held in Qatar, were crowned world champions.

Each phone – in a total of 35 iPhones acquired, 26 of which for players, including Messi himself, and the remaining 9 for the technical team commanded by Lionel Scaloni – is duly personalized, having, in the case of the players, the name of the footballer, his jersey number and the emblem of the Argentine Federation, already with the three stars corresponding to the world titles won in 1978, 1986 and 2022.

iDesign Gold was the company that carried out this 24K gold customization of the iPhones, each of which is valued at around 5700 euros.

This company is, in fact, specialized in this type of intervention, and its first “superstar” client was the fighter Conor McGregor.

Other world-renowned figures who have personalized products designed by iDesign Gold are Richard Mille (founder of the watch brand of the same name), Lionel Messi (footballer), Patrick van Aanholt (footballer), Darwin Nunez (footballer), Neymar (footballer) , Anthony Joshua (boxer), Paris Hilton (celebrity) and Armie Hammer (actor), among many others. In addition to iPhone cases, iDesign Gold also applies the same treatment to headphones.

“Lionel Messi wanted to do something special and brilliant to celebrate his proudest moment. He got in touch with businessman Ben Lyons and they created the project together”, says the CEO of iDesign Gold to The Sun newspaper.

The gold iPhone design was done by Patrick Group of iDesign Gold.

Although it seems like a lot of money, the almost 200,000 euros given by Messi with this gift is about a day and a half’s worth of work for the footballer!
